Departure from Rome Fiumicino, decent Alitalia flight. Arrival at Heathrow and straight onto the tube to reach the hotel in the Kensington Garden area (a stunning park with a lake inside). In the afternoon straight to the nearest monuments, a visit to Westminster Abbey (endless queue), a cappuccino break and an excellent plum cake, then a visit to the enchanting Big Ben. Dinner at fast food places (horrible food). The next day a visit to the royal palace and then straight to the fascinating Tower Bridge and a walk along the banks of the Thames. Evening out around Piccadilly and its pubs with their typically English air, and beer, beer, beer!!!! A hectic holiday, a wonderful, unforgettable city. Must go back!!
