Madrid, Simply Wonderful

We travelled as a group of four. We arrived at the airport and took a taxi to our 4-star hotel right on the Gran Via. Well located, it let us be out on the street for anything we needed in just 10 minutes. An unfortunate event at the start of the holiday — the theft of a wallet with all our documents and credit cards from the hotel room — forced us to take several detours. Police stations to file the report, the embassy to have a valid document issued so we could go home, and bank counters for cash withdrawals. Once the anger passed, we enjoyed the city. We visited the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, the Prado Museum and also the trophy room at the Bernabeu stadium. Paella and jamon to our heart's content and cerveza flowing like rivers. Decent weather. Like an autumn back home. The nightlife was excellent.
