When I was asked to spend New Year's Eve in London I didn't hesitate for a moment to say yes, even though it was my 5th time visiting... it's a wonderful city that never disappoints!!
A few tips:
We flew with Easy Jet from Nice... it's the second time I've used this low-cost airline and I recommend it to everyone... very organised, kind and always on time!!
We stayed at the Express By Holiday Inn - Newbury Park: the price was excellent, the hotel nice, new, clean, big rooms and an adequate breakfast; the only flaw is the location... the metro station was 2 minutes on foot but in exchange it took half an hour to get to the centre!! London is huge and if you want to save money you have to make choices... I don't know if I'd go back to that hotel, but I'll certainly keep that chain in mind next time I need to look for a hotel!!
Chelsea stadium tour: I strongly advise against the stadium tour... you go in, a short presentation of the club, then the changing rooms, the press room and finally the pitchside and the stands... all strictly in English only!! We were a bit disappointed... I'd suggest, if anything, going to the stadium, taking a couple of photos, having a look around the shop and that's it... unless you're a big Chelsea fan!!
Finally... for anyone who has never been to London... among the various Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace etc. don't forget to go to Camden Town... a market that almost seems like a city of sounds, colours and smells that you can't miss!! But for those like me who have a weakness for shopping, leave your credit card at home if you don't want to get carried away!!!;o)
