Towards North Cape: Sweden 4/6

Wednesday 14.08.91

Departure from Oslo. Off the motorway where we had taken the hotel the time before. We hoped to find mushrooms, we found none, it's too dry. this area has become very built-up. Continuing our journey southwards, we visited several rock carvings at Skjeberg. At Tanumshede (Sweden) instead the menhirs, the Ship beside a fantastic strawberry field and the circle in the woods: one stone in the centre and 10 outside. After shamelessly tasting a couple of strawberries we search in vain for a farmer to buy strawberry plants, or at least the strawberries themselves, but we find no one at home. We camp 60 km from Gothenburg, by the lake.

Thursday 15.08.91

Visit to Gothenburg. Then arrival at the port of Gothenburg at 11.30. Boarding is scheduled for 13.00. We put ourselves on the waiting list. We were the last to be boarded, but we made it. Stena Line ship. The route through the port is beautiful. The crossing was calm, and we disembark in Denmark at Frederikshavn. On the Danish roads we made quite a few stops and collected some lilac flowers with their roots to transplant at home. We arrive at Viborg.

Friday 16.08.91

Viborg, visit to the city gardens. In the afternoon departure for Germany. Stop for dinner and the night on the motorway near Hamburg.

Saturday 17.08.91

Visit to Hildesheim, the beautiful market square and the main churches. the cloister with the famous tombs and the cloister: the rose garden of the year 1000. Motorway to Freiburg.

Sunday 18.08.91

On the motorway from Basel, the St. Gotthard tunnel, Lugano, Milan.
