Weekend in Slovenia, discovering Ljubljana, the capital. Unfortunately the weather is not on our side and, if it gives us a sunny day in Ljubljana, the following day, in Bled, the greyness of the sky and a light drizzle arrive.
Ljubljana is very welcoming, clean and well organised, with a liveable pedestrian centre, with many bars along the main street and the two banks of the river. Worth visiting is the Castle; there are free car parks in the immediate vicinity, halfway between the town centre and the Castle itself. You can use the funicular that departs from the centre or a convenient, short path among the trees. Among the monuments, the Baroque Cathedral of San Nicola stands out. Among the many bridges, the Triple Bridge. Beautiful and reinvigorating is the walk in Tivoli Park, just outside the centre.
We slept at the Hotel Pri Mraku (Booking.com € 47.00 with breakfast)...convenient as a location, essential in its furnishings.
In the restaurants, try the local specialities (cheeses, jota soup, sausages of every kind, cevapcici).
In the area there is the little village of Kranj, and always nearby Skofija Loka.
Lake Bled is very beautiful and scenic, as is the view from the castle above, but unfortunately we did not enjoy good weather.
