The story
A short weekend in Friuli, a land once very close to us, but also very unknown. We stopped at Cividale del Friuli, a lovely little town with ancient Lombard origins. The historic centre is pleasant; the Tempietto Longobardo and the Ponte del Diavolo are not to be missed. I highly recommend the B&B Emma (in Torreano, booking on Booking.com). Just a few kilometres away you then reach the sanctuary of the Madonna di Castelmonte, a quiet and mystical place, on a hill surrounded by chestnut trees. In the evening, a stroll in the centre of Udine, a lively and pleasant pedestrian area.
