The story

We set off in the direction of Lake Iseo, intending to go to Monte Isola, the lake island in the centre of the lake. We arrive at Sulzano and take the ferry which leaves immediately and in a few minutes we disembark at Peschiera Maraglio, to walk around the island. We continue along the beautiful lakeside road, among the olive trees; there are no cars on the island, except a few service vehicles, a few small buses and lots and lots of mopeds belonging to the local inhabitants. At a certain point the road rises, towards Menzino, we head towards the fortress and then reach Siviano; a panoramic descent takes us to Carzano where we eat an excellent sandwich by the lake. The last stretch of lakeside road back to Peschiera Maraglio is not so panoramic and it starts to get hot too. We take the ferry again.

We head towards the Pyramids of Zone; having reached the village we continue on foot along the path, but the dense vegetation prevents us from seeing anything; we descend quite a way along the dirt path in the middle of the woods and at a certain point we give up and turn back, also given the threatening clouds behind us. And it is on the way back that we notice some viewpoints – we didn't need to go so far down! We take the car again when a few drops of rain begin to fall. Along the road descending back towards the lake, at a certain point you perhaps get the best view of the pyramids. We drive along the eastern lakeside road in the rain, then make a stop at Pisogne.

We then arrive at Lovere, the destination of our overnight stay.

The next day the sky is a little grey; we head towards Lake Endine, a long walk along the shore, unfortunately right beside the very busy road. From here we return towards Lovere and then drive along the Bergamasque lakeside road, very picturesque, the road running right below the rock face overlooking the lake. We reach Sarnico, a pretty little village where we eat an excellent bruschetta in a lovely flowering garden.
