(Distance from home 1142 km). Given the full week we had available in Vienna, it seemed only right not to let this opportunity slip by. We reached the Slovak capital via the Danube, choosing a Slovak company, driven by the price difference compared with an Austrian one. On the way there we didn't notice the difference, but on the way back, with the heat, we suffered, since the hull's air conditioning was provided by two fans! Still, that's part of the joy of travelling too, now that I look back on it, even if at the time we didn't see it that way. The trip lasted a good hour, set against the backdrop of the Danube flowing fast and green. Half a day is enough to get around the city, since the centre isn't large and you can easily walk it. The castle, the blue church and the famous statues scattered around the centre are definitely worth it.
It's certainly pleasant to wander the streets of the centre and stop to sample the local cuisine, at very low prices compared with Vienna.
