(Distance from home 2560 km). A beautiful city. The first thing that comes back to mind from those Portuguese days is the light that flooded everything. Good TAP flight from Rome Fiumicino, Hotel Marques de Sa booked on Booking (excellent position for its closeness to public transport). Things absolutely worth seeing: the ride up the Elevador de Santa Justa, Alfama, the Torre de Belem, the Jeronimos Monastery with its cloister which is the most beautiful I have ever seen, the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrao dos Descobrimentos), Praca do Comercio and much, much more. Unique is the feeling you get going around the city on Tram number 28, which toils uphill (Lisbon is entirely made of ups and downs and for this reason requires good feet to be explored) and seems to wedge itself between the alleys.
If you have time, an excursion to Sintra and to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent, is certainly worth it, where the scenery that opens up makes you understand the true force of nature represented by the ocean before you and by the wind that barely lets you stay on your feet (there's an office that issues a certificate of presence at the westernmost point of the continent). Lisbon is beautiful. The Portuguese are extremely friendly. The pasteis de nata are delicious, as is the porco a alentejana (pork stew with clams: delicious) and the fish cooked in every way that you eat in characteristic, very cheap taverns. Have a good trip
