(Distance from home 228 km). Since our next trip will be THE TRIP dreamed of a lifetime, for these very short summer holidays we decided to plunge back into wonderful Tuscany with a destination that, yes, we knew was wonderful, but not to that extent: the Val d'Orcia. In terms of landscape I think it is one of the places that most fill the heart with indelible images, not to mention the wine and food which in this region are, to say the least, diVINE. Since our travel companions had never experienced this emotion and the saying goes that there's no two without three, we tripled our attendance at the Palio di Siena, always fascinating and compelling even for those who are not true Sienese.
For the rest, the wonderful views of the countryside, the charm of Bagno Vignoni, the elegance of Pienza and the wines of Montalcino and Montepulciano are "only" a few small details to entice someone to go to these fantastic places. Last gem of the trip, Civita di Bagnoregio, a place out of the ordinary...and anyone who has been there can well understand why.
