A one-day stop in Siena. We stay at the "Montaperti" hotel 6 km from Siena, in the locality of Casetta, a modern hotel, price around 90 euro (for us the night is free, we used a Boscolo package received with the loyalty points of the Ali supermarkets), excellent breakfast. Siena is very crowded, despite it being Monday, Piazza del Campo is a bedlam, as are the narrow surrounding streets, adorned with the flags of the contrade. In the Duomo, the marbles of the floor and the columns supported by lions are certainly to be admired in particular. We taste the finocchiona, a typical local salami, and in the evening the ribollita, the famous vegetable and bean soup with toasted bread. The road that brought us from Florence to Siena is also beautiful, avoiding the motorway and preferring the gentle hills.
