week in Rome with a friend
booked the return flight Bologna-Rome on the Alitalia website on arrival at the airport you need to take the train (direct, departing from inside the airport) to get to Termini station. booked on venere.com a hotel in the Imperial Fora area but inexpensive (perfect, clean and a stone's throw from the Colosseum and the Altare della Patria), Hotel San Daniele Bundi.
we arrive on Saturday late in the morning... straight to the Altare della Patria and off shopping... Piazza di Spagna.. Piazza Navona.... aperitivo and dinner in Campo dei Fiori... back to the hotel on foot....
Sunday on foot to the Colosseum, Porta Portese market (nothing nice to see)... Trastevere, the Jewish Ghetto with a typical Jewish lunch... the one and only bus to get to St Peter's Square... then on foot back up the Tiber, Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza di Spagna, the Trevi Fountain... and back towards the Imperial Fora to collect our bags and go to the station and head back to Bologna
an intense walking weekend full of chatting... Rome is stunning!!!!! I'd forgotten how beautiful it is!!!!
