The story

Just outside Merano, in the Scenna area, are the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, where Princess Sissi spent her holidays for two years. The castle houses the Touriseum, a museum of tourism with an exhibition dedicated to the princess. The gardens offer an infinite variety of plants; the paths wind up the hill through botanical environments from all over the world. The climb to the highest points is amply rewarded by the wonderful views, including from Matteo Thun's panoramic platform. There's even a palm grove with its own beach. From the gardens, along the "Sissi trail" you reach Merano passing through charming corners far from traffic. The "Glaciers and Palms" package is interesting and good value.

With the 26.50 € ticket you get entry to the gardens and the Touriseum, the round trip on the Funivie Ghiacciai Val Senales (about 40 km away), entry to the Otzi-Gallery and coffee and cake at the restaurant on the glacier. Information on
