Antro del Corchia

For the early June long weekend we went to Versilia to spend a few days by the sea, but because of the bad weather we fell back on this excursion. We didn't know this cave, which turned out to be very fascinating instead. The route is 1978 m long, there are quite a few steps (downhill on the way there but uphill on the way back!) and it takes, with a mandatory guide, about 2 h. The temperature is rather low, around 7.6°C in every season of the year. So it isn't exactly a stroll, but it is doable for anyone without particular health problems. The gallery was carved out entirely by water and there are stalactites and stalagmites but also other kinds of formations, almost like sculptures!
