A winter walk from Sottomarina to Chioggia, a little town settled on the Venetian lagoon. The town is called Little Venice for the urban features of its old quarter, very similar to those of Venice. In Chioggia — a sort of island linked to the mainland by a few roads — there are therefore, just like in Venice, calli, campi and canals. The main one — from a tourist point of view, for the typicality of the palaces and churches overlooking it — is the Canal Vena, crossed by nine bridges, in many ways similar to those in Venice. Home to a fishing fleet, the restaurants where you can taste Venetian specialities and fish dishes are renowned. I'd point you to “Bella Venezia” and the latest discovery, “Al Buon Pesce”, with lovely frescoed rooms and an excellent scampi risotto.
