(266 km from home). Here we are in Siena again, after having been there for the Palio dell'Assunta in 2005. Back then, truth be told, there was very little of the city to see — what mattered was to breathe it in and live it: the Palio is an incredible experience even for those who are not from Siena. I believe Siena is an incredibly human-scale city, with cultural and culinary treasures (the ciaccini, filled flatbreads, are spectacular) that are unique and always close at hand. Walking through the city is like walking suspended in time: you are captivated by the extreme charm of its alleys, its palazzi and its history. Looking around Piazza del Campo you are completely spellbound and carried off to other eras. Ideal for a weekend you will hardly be able to forget.
