You know when the heat is so strong that you can't find relief even pouring litres of icy water over yourself? Yet it was May, in theory the climate should have been mild and temperate...but there you go... So in Rome for work in the morning, I have the whole afternoon to devote to wandering around and looking for some hidden and unusual corner of the Capital. And so here I am at Porta Pia, emblem and high point of our Risorgimento; I didn't find the breach, but the sight of the Gate is moving! I keep walking and, after crossing the best-known places of the city, I go into the alleys of the Jewish Ghetto to come out onto via Portico d'Ottavia and continue towards the Museum of the Risorgimento and the tomb of the unknown soldier.
How to end the outing if not with a fleeting glance at the Colosseum? Oh well, the little trip didn't last long and the intense heat didn't let me satisfy all my whims, but never mind...I'll be back anyway!
