Oh, what a marvel April is in Sicily

together with my son's father-in-law Franco, we decide to go to Sicily, and specifically to my favourite Eden, LETOJANNI. It's the most beautiful period and without doubt the best time to see again and visit places I used to go and see as a boy. What a sight Taormina is with Etna in the distance, with Isola Bella that looks like an enchantment. Beautiful and fascinating Castelmola, perched on a cliff. What can you say about the Greek theatre in Taormina, of course the Greeks, in their extraordinary greatness, could only build such a masterpiece in this unique place in the world. Extraordinary is the quiet and serenity of my home town Letojanni. Hard to think that in August it becomes unbearable. The Saracen castle of Sant'Alessio Siculo is an extraordinary example of defence against the raiders who came from the sea.

Ancient, characteristic and sweet is the little town of Forza d'Agrò, which has its characteristic churches, famous for a great many film shoots (THE GODFATHER) and more; it stands as a guardian between the coast towards Taormina and the one towards the Strait of Messina, with Calabria within a glance. Fascinating and unusual is the sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Aiuto on Mount Kalfa, 1000 m. Another very beautiful and simple place is Savoca with its Calvary, the Castle, the 15th-century Bifora and the Capuchin church. I recommend everyone to go and visit this area of the province of Messina in periods far from the summer stress, to admire wonderful places, receive much more warmth than in the busy summer period and, most importantly, be able to travel in peace. Naturally in these periods you eat divinely well.
