The story
Dolo, a town on the Riviera del Brenta, halfway between Padua and Venice, crossed by the river lined with ancient Venetian villas. A historic centre rich in picturesque views, famous for its beautifully restored mills and for the 'squero', the old shipyard where boats were repaired. Dolo doesn't know exactly what it owes its name to: perhaps to the Dauli family, perhaps to the theory that in the 1400s those sentenced to confinement were gathered here. The town offers its guests, besides famous fish restaurants, the chance to visit many prestigious villas and a great many events such as the Rassegna dei Madonnari, the Festival of the Villas and the Carnevale degli Storti.
