Gathering in Tuscany 2002

Gathering organised by the Camper Club "Andrea Palladio" of Vicenza. Meeting point in San Gimignano in a car park of C.I. (a motorhome manufacturing company); before stopping we made a quick visit to San Gimignano, a beautiful village perched on a hill; at the car park we found all the other participants in the gathering, some of whom we already knew, while with others we made new friendships. The day after we arrived: a visit to the factory, where we could see up close how one of the vehicles we usually drive is built, very interesting. In the evening a short stop in Pisa, with a night-time visit, spectacular, then we headed for the night to the car park of the San Rossore estate; the next day a visit — some by little train, others by carriage up to a certain point, then continuing on foot through this wonderful estate of well-kept woods and parks, until reaching the sea.

In the evening we parked in Lucca, then all on foot into the old town where, in a typical restaurant, we enjoyed a rich dinner of local dishes; the next day, again on foot, a guided visit of the centre. We move on to Pistoia, a stop and overnight stay near a church with an oratory; the parish priest hosted us in a hall, where everyone brought all sorts of things, I made two cakes, others various pastries, everything that could be found in our motorhomes; it was a lovely evening spent in good cheer with the characteristic spirit of us motorhomers. The next day a visit to the city and then a farewell lunch. We'll meet again in other parts of Italy or Europe.
