For some time we had decided with Tonino and Donatella, a camper couple from Anzio met in Libya, to go to Venice for the carnival; we had decided to visit it during the week and to return on the Saturday before the weekend crowd arrived. As a stopping place we settled on the Tronchetto, all things considered: Sabbioni, Fusina and other stopover points turn out to be less convenient since the cost and time to reach the centre of Venice offset the high price of the Tronchetto, taking the 72-hour (3-day) pass for € 81.00. There should have been two other couples, also met in Libya, but one pulls out because of the bad weather and other commitments, the second will join us on the 23rd by car since they have to return to Bologna in the evening.
