The story

I took an easy walk starting from Santa Maria Novella station and arriving at Signa station, covering about 14 kilometres; the pedestrian and cycle path starts near the "Ponte all'Indiano" in Florence and reaches the Renai park in Signa. The path is entirely flat and follows the course of the Arno, every now and then there are some information panels; along the river there were fishermen and even groups having lunch outdoors. Unfortunately some stretches were not well maintained (a path full of weeds, some of them prickly, and rubbish) but it is certainly a walk I would recommend to all Florentines!
