(Distance from home 1028 km). Sun, sea and freedom.... equals Greece. We see lots of images of Caribbean beaches and dream seas, and often overlook the Mediterranean. With the offer Greece proposes, the choice fell on Samos (Pythagoras's birthplace) because it's not too chaotic and also because at the last minute you have to make do with what you find. Make do?!?!?! A wonderful sea experienced in total freedom on a not-exaggerated budget, not to mention the dinners by the sea, and I mean literally by the sea. A paradise. We slept in Pythagorio and roamed far and wide by scooter to every little beach that invited us to dive into its turquoise hues. Not to be missed are the beaches of Tsamadou, Psili Ammos, Lemonakia, Kerveli, Vathy, Potokaki, Tsabou, Pappa Beach, Agios Kostantinos, Limnionias.
At Limnonias, continuing along a dirt road, not far from the beach, following the signs you arrive at a taverna where you can eat in a wonderful spot: the taverna The End of the world. It really feels like being at the end of the world: only sea before your eyes and a few tables for the bravest who make it all the way there (not to mention the quality of the food). Given the experience, we recommend sleeping in Pythagorio because it has the right evening buzz with little bars and because it's central for all trips. Another thing I recommend is taking a boat trip, where in a single day they took us to beaches we couldn't have reached and we had lunch with the classic Greek BBQ, salad included. Samos: beautiful sea and tranquillity in total freedom.
