The road that crosses the island of Cres (Cherso) runs straight south and you immediately realise that the island is neither very inhabited nor very developed for tourism; it almost serves as a transit route for those heading on to Losinj (Lussino). We take a walk in the village, perhaps a little retro, frozen in time (the guides say it is like Italy in the 1950s); the seafront promenade is lovely, where we capture a wonderful sunset. Since it is a bit chilly we look for a restaurant with an indoor room and find a peculiar one with stone walls and many antique objects hanging everywhere, where we eat very well spending little. Finding somewhere to sleep is very easy and cheap (25.00 euros for a night for 2). You just have to look around a bit and many houses display the sign 'camere-zimmer'; they trust tourists a great deal, giving you the key to their own house without any problem.
