India has a population of one billion people and is a country of stark contrasts, where history and tradition live alongside a dynamic present. It is second only to the United States in information technology, yet families respect traditions, enjoying together elaborate home-made recipes rather than gulping something down in a fast-food. The territory of the subcontinent, extremely varied, made up of rivers, fields, forests, mountains and deserts, has the shape of an immense diamond. The local currency is the rupee, whose exchange rate is 1 € = 58 rupees. Here we are, deep in India's great capital: Delhi. It is the country's main point of access, the starting point for visiting the so-called "Golden Triangle", which holds some of the greatest treasures of Indian art. The history of Delhi, the current capital of the largest democracy in the world, goes back over 3000 years.
Seven times Delhi fought for its own survival and each ruling dynasty left behind a unique cultural and architectural legacy, expressed in temples and markets, palaces and forts, tombs and towers. We leave the airport and immediately notice a great difference between our way of life and the reality of New Delhi. My web: to see more photos
