The story

My dream had always been to visit ancient Egypt... We decided to stay in Hurghada, at the Lillyland resort, so as to be able to reach both Luxor and Cairo overland. Hurghada is a small town facing the Red Sea, originally inhabited mainly by fishermen. Hurghada's coral reef is very beautiful, though in some spots it is missing, such as right in front of the Lillyland, because of the damage caused by boats. From Hurghada you can reach Cairo with a 7-hour coach ride: it's worth it, the pyramids of Giza are truly marvellous. A must is the Cairo Museum: there are no words to describe the treasures it holds. You absolutely cannot miss the Treasure of Tutankhamun and the mummies of the pharaohs. The City of the Dead is a place unique of its kind. As for Luxor, ancient Thebes, it's about a 5-hour coach ride from Hurghada.

Here you can take a leap back in history, walking among the tall columns of the Karnak and Luxor temples, descending into the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, through tunnels decorated with hieroglyphs... For sea lovers, the trip to the Giftun Islands is unmissable: these islands are truly magnificent with their white sandy beaches. You can go snorkelling in open sea, where a splendid coral reef hosts fish of a thousand colours, turtles and the odd moray eel!! A trip to Egypt is truly a thrilling experience!
