The story

Once again we've returned to the Red Sea and found a place that's beyond belief. 90 km south of Marsa Alam airport we stayed at the Emerald Lagoon, a Settemari exclusive. Booking at the last minute we took advantage of an excellent offer that included the possibility of staying at the Blue Lagoon, the Dream Lagoon or indeed the Emerald Lagoon. All three resorts, all run by Settemari, sit on a lagoon with spectacular colours and share the beach and entertainment. The Emerald was completed last spring. The Settemari organisation was excellent; they assigned the rooms already on the minibus taking us from the airport to the hotel. Nothing to fault in the services, the rooms; the restaurant is beautiful, the beach service excellent, there are always sunbeds available.

The sea access is gently shelving; you can walk in the water for hours, on a velvety sandy bottom; reef shoes are recommended anyway. Swimming, you then cross a deeper area, where the first pinnacles of the coral reef appear, then another stretch of shallower water and then the reef that encircles the whole bay. In my opinion an ideal place for everyone: children, snorkelling lovers, and even those who can't swim and want to laze in this warm sea of a thousand colours.
