The story

From El Calafate (see Journey in Argentine Patagonia) you reach Puerto Natales. Trekking in Torres del Paine is essential in this region. It is worth taking several days and sleeping at altitude in campsites or refuges. The landscapes are fantastic and the amount of wildlife you can see is breathtaking: guanaco, nandu, zorro, condor,... From there you reach Punta Arenas. Not a very beautiful city but essential in order to visit the "penguin colony" of Seno Otway. From Punta Arenas, in "just" 12 hours by bus you reach Ushuaia (see the trip in Argentina).
