We arrive in Boston early in the morning and park the car in a paid car park... On foot we cross BOSTON COMMON, the biggest park in the city, full of little squirrels and artists sketching. We see strange buses passing on the street, an old boat and a tank, taking tourists around, and in the distance we glimpse the MASSACHUSETTS STATE HOUSE with its golden dome. We follow the famous FREEDOM TRAIL (a red line on the pavements that acts as a guide) and reach the OLD SOUTH MEETING HOUSE, with a fine square around it, and a little further on the famous OLD STATE HOUSE, which we also visit inside. These 1700s buildings are in sharp contrast with the modern city and make it very particular and unique; the people around are also very unique and strange... We then reach QUINCY MARKET, full of shops and stalls, where we drink a very good lemonade.
We also see the CUSTOM HOUSE in the financial district from afar. Last stop: the harbour, where we eat the famous Boston lobsters... Boston is a city that feels little like America, and it certainly deserves to be seen... also for all the history it has to tell... We get back in the car and go to visit HARVARD UNIVERSITY in Cambridge, full of students, but it strikes us less than Yale... We also visit the town of the witches: SALEM, so called because of the witch trials, but I didn't like it that much....
