Finally I too can say I have been there... even though it was so beautiful that it doesn't seem real! I would have posted many more photos but the program won't upload them for me! I'm sorry!

Day 130 Aug 2011

Hello everyone! I would like to try to share with you my itinerary for a trip to New York. So anyone who, like me, wants to spend 7 nice full days there already has a little program divided day by day. Of course I'm not going to describe everything there is to visit, since that's information you'll find in millions of other travel diaries. I stayed at the hotel Thirty Thirty, which turned out to be spot on both for its location (on 30th Street, a minute's walk from the Empire) and for the cleanliness, beauty and size of the rooms and bathrooms.....take a look at it if you're lucky enough to plan a trip to NY! Another tip...the guidebook...don't waste money on overly elaborate guides.

Buy the Cartoville from Touring Club...it's extremely useful and it's divided by areas; each area has a map showing everything there is to visit, where to eat, metro stops....believe me, it's really well done and costs about 8 euros. I bought mine at the supermarket. I'll start with the breakdown of the days:

DAY 1: Empire State Building New York Public Library Saint Patrick's Cathedral Rockefeller Plaza Rockefeller Center Radio City Music Hall Times Square Madame Tussauds Shopping on 5th Ave! Aperitivo at the rooftop garden (a place located on top of a skyscraper, basically a terrace with a breathtaking view set up as a bar/garden where people meet for aperitifs or evening drinks. The one I went to is called 230 Fifth and takes its name from its address. The view is wonderful and you have the Empire right next to you, which every evening lights up its highest part in a different color)

DAY 2: Flatiron Building Battery Park Liberty Island and Statue of Liberty Ellis Island and visit to the immigration museum Wall Street Shopping at Century 21 (an outlet for all the big brands...super discounted prices...you won't see anyone around without one of its bags stuffed full of things!) Ground Zero World Trade Center Museum Brooklyn with a walk along its promenade (a stunning view of Manhattan) Brooklyn Bridge (crossed on foot from Brooklyn toward Manhattan (ps: I recommend starting just before dusk so you can see the view in full daylight and finish it when it's dark...so you can see the beautiful lights of New York both by day and by night all at once! Go to Brooklyn by metro and come back to NY on foot across the bridge).

DAY 3: Free Lenny Kravitz concert at 7 in the morning (organized by NBC in front of its headquarters at Rockefeller Center) Little Italy Chinatown Bike rental and full tour of Central Park Shopping on 5th Times Square by night (where we had dinner but I don't recommend it...too chaotic, you'll definitely eat a bit poorly)

DAY 4

Cruise with Circle Line around the entire island of Manhattan Guggenheim Metropolitan Museum of Art Stroll around the Upper West Side

DAY 5

Harlem Gospel Mass at Canaan Baptist Church Brunch and gospel show at BB King on Broadway MoMA Top of the Rock

DAY 6

Upper West Side Dakota Building and Strawberry Fields Greenwich Village SoHo Brooklyn Times Square NY Skyride from the Empire State Building

DAY 7

This last day is completely dedicated to the most unrestrained shopping on Fifth Avenue, at Times Square, Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Abercrombie, Aeropostale etc etc etc.... Transfer to the airport by limousine kindly booked by our hotel at the same price as a taxi.

I'll be happy to give you a hand if you need any advice! BYEEE!!!
