We reach Istanbul in the evening on a charter flight. The lights of the Bosphorus welcome us into a world teeming with every kind of humanity. The next day a boat trip on the Bosphorus with lunch on the Asian shore (excellent fish washed down with a white that is not bad at all for a Muslim country). Then around the city: the Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi. For a short stay like ours, Istanbul is a fascinating city between East and West, a different escape from the usual daily routine.
