The story

In the land of the immortals, among green hills and jagged cliffs plunging into the sea, where the wind, an implacable and cold commander of centuries-old battles, takes the clouds by the hand and leads them along, where the sky catches fire and never goes out even at night, where the warmth of the people melts the coldest hearts... on far-flung, remote islands, ours was a journey marked by wonder and amazement, in magical Scotland!

Edinburgh, the city of ghosts and of art, the city of Scotland's greatest castle, symbol of a culture and a love of country that has never faded... those who cannot continue their journey into the Highlands can still enjoy Scotland from here, from Calton Hill, for a 360° view over the city, or from the castle, to feel Scottish deep in their hearts. And then the Royal Mile, with its lovely little shops, to walk all the way to the Parliament building and on to the New Town; We crossed the Argyle Forest along a very narrow road, spotting deer, otters, foxes, squirrels, eagles, and brightly coloured flowers and towering trees; We didn't resist the temptation to head north, and so, after stopping in Fort William for a shower and a good dinner, we set off again for Inverness, driving along Loch Ness and its wonderful, dense forest.

Inverness, capital of the Highlands, it's hard to grasp how this small, colourful and lively town is the last great reference point for the inhabitants of the Highlands! From Inverness the real journey begins, one of adventure, nature, silence and majesty; driving up the Scottish coast from Dunrobin Castle (in the Sutherland region), all the way to Ullapool the views are truly unique! Everything is awe, at every bend the landscape is slowly revealed, the ever-changing sky, and the colours of land and sea, everything enters your heart and leaves a mark of strong patriotism even in those who aren't Scottish. Continuing from Ullapool towards Skye, we discovered an itinerary that isn't marked on any guidebook: Applecross. Pure, true Highlands, with breathtaking beaches, stunning mountains, brilliant colours, a triumph of the most unspoiled nature, where man must remain a silent passer-by.

Eager to discover the Hebrides, we raced to the Skye Bridge, only to find that the Isle of Skye is Scotland in miniature, where a wise and playful God gave his very best. The Outer Hebrides, on the other hand, are remote islands, forgotten by the world, where even the language stands on its own; here absolute silence reigns, in contrast with the energy field of the Menhirs.

Our journey wasn't only nature; adventure prevailed over much of the route. We found the tiny village of Temple, where one of the few Templar churches is still partly visible, we visited the tomb of Robert the Bruce, first King of Scotland, and peeked into castles of imposing beauty such as Dunrobin Castle, Cawdor, the infamous Eilean Donan Castle, but also Dunnottar, Blair, Urquhart...

Food It's important not to give in to the temptation to eat Italian, starting with breakfast: choose the Scottish breakfast over the continental one, and don't be fooled by appearances... you'll need plenty of energy during the day!! In restaurants choose simple dishes, in John O' Groats have the ice cream, and in Perth a stop at Pacos is compulsory!!!!!!!!!!!
