The usual Immaculate Conception trip to the Christmas markets. This time to visit the largest covered market in Europe, located in Zurich's main station
Day 18 Dec 2006
First day at the markets
Departure at 5 from Brescia heading to Zurich by coach. Stop in Mendrisio and continuation among snow-capped mountains and splendid alpine lakes. Arrival in Zurich in the early afternoon, and time available for the visit to the largest indoor Christmas market in Europe. The market is inside the central station, with about 80 wooden stalls. Personally a disappointment. It's almost nicer to visit the station, on 3 floors going down, full of nice little shops and chocolate boutiques, where you find all types of Swiss chocolate, very good.

Day 29 Dec 2006
Second day visiting the city
The second day is dedicated to visiting the city. You can choose whether to follow the tour operator's guide, or go on your own. We choose the second option to be freer. The city all in all is nice, very orderly and clean, where the beautiful Norman cathedral stands out. However in my opinion nothing exceptional, nice the center, nice the commercial area with the little shops, to avoid the financial district, full only of banks. In short, after having seen the Christmas markets in Salzburg and those in Alto Adige, beautiful, especially Salzburg also for the splendid historic center and the beautiful fortress the Hohensalzburg, this one disappoints us a bit. In my opinion you can visit it after having seen the others, especially they tell me those in Germany, and for Switzerland there are those in Bern and Montreux.
