06. 01. 2002 Vigo (SPAIN)
We set off at six in the morning and by ten we're already on our way to Vigo, in Spain! On the way there we decide to stop and visit Viana do Castelo. This time, in daylight, I appreciated it even more, although we only stopped briefly at the church of "Santa Luzia". After a lunch in the car, interrailer style, we reach Vigo in the Galicia region. Honestly Vigo is nothing special. A classic city full of big apartment blocks and nothing more! But I had a lot of fun because on that occasion we were both tourists.
So we remembered the magnificent moments we lived during our legendary inter rail! Anyway, after a quick snack at McDonald's where we spent our first Spanish Euros, we set off again for Guimaraes! Finally a delightful city! Small, romantic, pretty, full of little alleyways all in stone and with no car traffic! It's the classic medieval-style town you can find in Umbria or the Marche. It struck me a lot! Later on, we end our tour stopping in Braga, where Eduarda lives. What a trip!
07. 01. 2002 Oporto (PORTUGAL)
Today for the first time I "sampled" a hallucinogenic mushroom (Cubensis) coming directly from Amsterdam. Right afterwards we went into the centre to see what effects it had... Honestly I didn't take many so the effects weren't as strong as Pedro's during our inter rail... I didn't see people transforming or fantastic monsters, I simply laughed like a madman at everything...

[Pedro]: I'm going through the same thing I experienced last summer. I have to change so many things about myself, about my character, things that can annoy or harm other people. I've told you I'm trying, but it takes me a long time. The good thing is that I feel I've already changed a bit after the summer and these Christmas days with you. Anyway I hope you'll keep a good memory of these days, it was a pleasure having you here.
09. 01. 2002 Lavra (PORTUGAL)
This morning, purely by chance, I tuned into RAI UNO and at that very moment they were announcing a general strike by air traffic controllers... Imagine that... With the suitcase packed, Pedro drives me to the airport and there: Porto-Milan= Cancelled We leave tomorrow. But I'll have to take three flights in one day! What a stress!
