Lost among the dunes

What can I say.....a pleasant surprise!! I thought it was a dud place... cheap to do but worth even less...... after all, this year money's tight so I had to fall back on cheaper destinations than previous years; instead a lovely surprise!! A really beautiful big beach complete with a chiringuito with booming music, a pretty nice sea (certainly not Caribbean but more than acceptable), magnificent sand dunes framing the beach and the hotel, full of bars for all tastes, cheap drinks, cheap taxis!!!...what more could you want?? Now I'll give you some more precise tips....

Alitalia flight booked on Expedia for only 320 euros return (including all those miles), a stellar hotel RIU PALACE MASPALOMAS 4-star superior, half board, for only 780 euros each for a double (also booked directly from the RIU site), a lovely spacious room with a nice terrace too....eating like a god!!!!....wonderful pool...though the beach is definitely more fun. I went to chiringuito no. 7...the nudist one, to be clear....and here there's double the fun...both for those who practise naturism and for the plain onlookers (I've been a naturist for years)....sunbeds for hire at only 2.50 each for the whole day....to get there you have to trek quite a bit...

about half an hour among Sahara-like sand dunes....a wonderful spectacle especially at sunset with the dunes constantly changing colour....you start from the RIU PALACE hotel and head towards the sea keeping the Maspalomas lighthouse on your right as a reference......on arrival you can't go wrong.....almost everyone is naked!!!!!!!! In the evening great fun in the bars of the Jumbo centre.. an anonymous shopping centre...pretty ugly I'd say...which at night turns into a kind of Sodom and Gomorrah.....nightspots of various kinds...from the club, to the open-air bars on the 4th floor...to the cruising bars...the whole lot!!!!! In short, a lovely holiday without spending a fortune......try it to believe it!! Happy Canaries to everyone! Max
