A breath of fresh wind, blinding green, nature that surrounds you and makes you its own, as if all the oxygen of this Earth could concentrate there, around a magnificent lake, in the middle of a beautiful country, truly the garden of Europe, to visit now!! Happy travels

Day 130 Aug 2010

GREEN UNIVERSE

Halfway between the Balkans and the Habsburgs, a land of passage, of conquest and smuggling. Defeated and victorious armies have passed through its plains, founded today's towns, vanished among its mountains, died on its terrible mountain passes, been overwhelmed by the natural beauty of this very green land. 20 thousand square kilometres of country, half covered in forests and woods, in short a dream, mine and of anyone who loves nature. Green and oxygen in their pure state, Slovenia with its thousand parks and its pristine nature rests the weary soul, awakens lungs sleepy from so much smoke and pollution, rekindles vitality and hope.

Independent as a nation at the start of the dark decade of the Balkans, Slovenia slipped away quietly, like a little mouse leaving the scene of the crime, there before the murderer kills the man, before cowardice gets the better of innocence, leaving blood and death, Slovenia ran away, out, away..towards freedom..it was 1991, and Slovenia became free!!! Beautiful and enveloping, fresh as a rose, surprisingly clean, Slavic and Balkan, Central European and modern, Western, Slovenia mirrors itself in its pearl, the capital Ljubljana, a splendid painting of Eastern Europe, dominated by a nice little castle up there, a splendid historic centre, a marvellous life and youth, a free and sparkling spirit like sparkling water, but above all dazzling along the river, where the green of the weeping willows blends with the flowers of the gardens, the candid white of the buildings, the green-blue of it

s river, there where old Emona was born, founded, destroyed, reborn, today loved by me and by all those who visit it. Further up Bled is a magical place, an ideal setting, a space where sea, sky, earth and nature decide to show themselves in their beauty, a little church reminds us of man's presence: Bled is an absolute marvel. As is the whole Triglav National Park, with the absolute nostalgic and idyllic value of Lake Bohinj, the breathtaking views of the Vintgar Gorge, up there everything blessed by the god Triglav, up there he blesses us who have come this far, and we have found, who knows, one of the most beautiful places ever seen. Going to Slovenia is a MUST. Think about it!!!
