26. 06. 2015 Moscow (RUSSIA)

[Stefy]: "We had been talking for a long time about taking a little trip with our parents... and so, once we had got the visas and done a bit of paperwork, off we go: heading for Russia!

We arrive in Moscow on a cool summer afternoon and, after about an hour by AeroExpress bus to the Belorusskaya metro station, the adventure begins... We find ourselves inside a gigantic metro, its escalator among the longest in the world, decorated ceilings, wonderful mosaics and above us immense chandeliers... hundreds and hundreds of people going up and down... hundreds, yes, but not one who spoke a word of English! We will soon notice that one difficulty on this trip will be precisely the language... but with our parents speaking Piedmontese, Calabrian and Caserta dialects we had no problems! 27. 06. 2015 Moscow (RUSSIA)

[Stefy]: "The sky is not at its best; accompanied by a light drizzle we head for Red Square. We pass along the western wall of the Kremlin, immerse ourselves in the Alexander Gardens, pass the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where we watch the changing of the guard.

A few more steps eastwards and here we are in the most photographed square in the world... it really is a spectacle! Before us St Basil's Cathedral, characterised by an architecture of magical shapes and colours, looks like a gigantic fairy-tale house, one of those made of marzipan.

Overlooking the square there are also Kazan Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum and the State Historical Museum. Along the whole north-eastern length of the square we find the shopping centre par excellence: GUM; once people came here to queue for ages to see empty shelves, now there are over 1000 shops of major brands!

And right here we have lunch and find a not-bad Italian café!

We devote the afternoon to visiting the Kremlin. We pass the Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell, we enter three of the cathedrals: the Assumption, the Archangel and the Annunciation.... truly unique, with wonderful icons and gigantic frescoes.

In Moscow we will often go to MY MY, a self-service restaurant where you can find everything, from salads to meat, to fish, from fritters to desserts with jam, and you will spend really little compared to other restaurants!"

28. 06. 2015 St Petersburg (RUSSIA)

[Stefy]: "At 07.00 from Moscow's railway station (Leningradsky) we set off for St Petersburg!

We arrive around lunchtime and, with bus 181, we reach our hotel "Dom Dostoevskogo", very nice, overlooking the canal and in an excellent position in the Sennaya area.
