The story

Let me say right away that this account is the result of a business trip and not a pleasure one. I had the idea that Poland must still be a country where the signs of the past communist regime were evident........nothing could be further from the truth!! Warsaw looks rather like a capital in continuous growth, where the now-strong signs of globalisation merge with those of the recovery of Polish traditions repressed for too long first by the war and then by the regime. I was there for two full days...but working...so my time to play the tourist was very limited. I was struck in particular by the beauty of the city's main square, where the handsome façades of the buildings frame the various traditional restaurants full of atmosphere and charm, where you eat very well (I recommend the "Pierochi", a sort of large ravioli sautéed in a pan) and spend little.

Near the central square I was struck by a big billboard showing the destruction suffered by the square during the Nazi invasion.....it's incredible to think that it has now been redone so well! So I feel I can recommend, also thanks to the new low-cost flights to Poland, a nice romantic weekend in a beautiful Warsaw looking towards Europe. Bye Max
