4 days in Amsterdam... definitely to be done again!
Day 19 Nov 2005
First Day
Departure from Rome with the Alitalia flight at 9:30, ticket price on offer 230 euros issued directly at the airport. Arrival at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport at 12:00, you can't buy anything at the duty free on arrival, you have to wait for the return... a piece of advice if you need to buy sunglasses, take a look at the airport, I bought a pair of Christian Dior for 170 euros that I found in Rome for 220!! At 13:30 arrival at the hotel... I recommend it both for the price and for the location... there were 3 of us in a triple room and we paid 95 euros a night including an abundant breakfast! Hotel Slotania, Slotermerlaan area. Once we'd put the suitcases in the room we went to discover Amsterdam. I must say that you can easily get around it in 3 days... taking only tram 14 in the direction of Flevopark in front of the hotel, which takes you to all the city's attractions.
In front of the hotel you'll find a market open every day, a big shop that sells everything called Kuantum and behind it a shopping center with lots of shops. Near the hotel you'll find shops of every kind. In the evening we went to a famous coffee shop called Bull Dog... there are 6 of them throughout Amsterdam, one of which is near Dam square and one in the Leidseplein area. Careful with the drugs! They put them in candies too!

Day 210 Nov 2005
Second Day
Up early and straight to breakfast! At 9 we're already at the usual tram 14 stop, so first of all we head to Amsterdam's most famous square, called DAM, the tram stop is right there... I recommend buying the Strippenkaart with 45 stamps at the tobacco shop, cost 19.40 euros, and it's valid for several people. The driver stamps it directly or, if you get on in the middle, the people specially stationed there, the ticket must be stamped according to the zone you're going to. Once you arrive at Dam square you'll see the castle that has now become a shopping center called Magna Plaza, then in the square itself there's the Madame Tussauds wax museum and other monuments. From this square branch off the most important streets and you'll find a string of restaurants, fast food places, shops of all kinds and souvenir shops all stuck together. The shops open at 9 and close at 17-18.
From there look for Damrak street where you can take a nice boat trip for 6.50 euros for an hour.

Day 311 Nov 2005
Third Day
As usual at 9 we're at the usual tram 14 stop to go to the Anne Frank House... a stop not to be missed. Westermarkt stop, get off there and you'll find a flower stall, behind the stall there's Prinsengracht street, you'll arrive at no. 267. Ticket cost 7.50 euros per person, no photos allowed. We return to the tram 14 stop of our tram to reach the intersection with tram 12, which we'll take to the Van Baerlestraat stop to go to the Van Gogh Museum, ticket cost 10 euros... beautiful. We return to tram 14 to go to the Artis zoo, Plantage Kerklaan stop... eh it costs a bit, 16 euros per person, but very well spent, the zoo is fabulous.

Day 412 Nov 2005
Fourth and Final Day
Again tram 14, there's a nice market with bargain prices called Dapp Markt where in front you'll find a windmill, take tram 14 and say you want to go to the Dapp market, they'll tell you where to get off. While on the tram don't miss the spectacle of the three-story little houses, of the canals with the ducks that you'll find everywhere you go, also go into the supermarket called Albert Heijn (like an SMA or GS or Panorama), the cost of drinks there is very low. Last stop another round at Dam square to buy the last souvenirs. Return to the hotel around 13:30, we pack the suitcases and at 15:00 we're at the airport, the perfumes cost very little there. At 17:10 our Alitalia flight departs, we arrive in Rome at 19:25.
