Our holiday in Sicily hadn't had a happy start, since we were supposed to go as six but only my husband Gerardo and I were left…Our friends had discovered they were expecting a baby and so didn't want to risk travelling (quite rightly), and so the trip had to be reorganised; aside from the initial panic, browsing the internet, and having the flight booked, I find a room at the hotel VENTO DEL SUD (beautiful) just right for us. SAN VITO LO CAPO is a very beautiful town, the sea is splendid and with a view near the beach that's unique..on one side the mountain, on the other the lighthouse…. We visited the ZINGARO NATURE RESERVE, the old tuna factory and SCOPELLO (where Commissioner Montalbano's house is) once by scooter and once by boat...The sea is splendid. We also took a walk up to the Chapel of Santa Crescenza.
Another day we dedicated to visiting ERICE and SEGESTA, the latter splendid with its temple… A truly beautiful holiday where I discovered that Sicily is rich in history and enchanting places….in short, I fell in love with it….
