The story

With our two friends Lorenza and Fabrizio we decided to have a romantic weekend and so we chose VENICE as our destination. Saturday the 8th was a rainy day, but we set off all the same. We leave the car at the Mestre car park and take the ferry.. It was pouring and that day we never closed our umbrella. We take our suitcase to our B&B CASA ALLA FENICE in the San Marco area. The rooms are beautiful and besides we're right in the centre and the cost isn't crazy. We pass by the LA FENICE THEATRE and it's a lovely emotion to see how they rebuilt it after the fire... We visit ST MARK'S SQUARE and all the inner streets.. But how it rained and how much dampness... We also visit the BRIDGE OF SIGHS and the prisons. The ceilings of the latter are very low and we had great fun when an Englishman banged his head and exclaimed: OHH MY GOD! When I think of it I still laugh....

In the evening we go to eat in a restaurant by candlelight, well yes we dined like that, though to tell the truth you could see very little... The evening isn't over yet, we decide to take the ferry and go to the CASINO. Inside it's beautiful, we lost 100 euros, but we spent a different kind of evening... Even at night Venice is splendid, but it's time to go to sleep in our Venetian rooms... it felt like going back in time.... The next day at last the sun comes out and Venice is quite another thing..... We go to the Rialto bridge, cross the lagoon and go to a very quiet part of the city that I had never visited, up to the BASILICA SANTA MARIA DELLA SALUTE... In the afternoon we decide to take our gondola ride... it's really worth it, it's a beautiful experience and above all very romantic.. The gondolier is also very nice and funny because he wanted to play the ladies' man.

Reluctantly it's time to go home.... it's always sad to leave VENICE
