The story

For the first outing with our camper van, we decided to return to the Gargano after 15 years away. We left on Monday and stopped for a day along the way at Fermo, at the Baia dei Gabbiani camper area. Lovely sea with very few people on the beach. The seagulls really were there. Along the Gargano road we heard, as in the old days, the great many cicadas singing. After many hairpin bends we arrived at Peschici. We didn't find a campsite with a shaded area, so we continued towards Vieste. We found a nice campsite called (Umbra Mare) with good prices. The beach was very (perhaps too) crowded. The campsite was full, almost all camper vans, with many foreigners. We were comfortable, and on the way back we stopped in San Giovanni Rotondo to see the church of Padre Pio. The new church, designed by a talented architect, is beautiful. The large stained-glass window is beautiful.

On the way home we stopped for a day in Loreto and then headed home.
