The story

For a long time I had been planning a romantic getaway with my love and finally the chance came along: a whole weekend for us in Sirmione. We had booked a room at the hotel Villa Rosa, quite far from the historic centre. We arrive in the morning around 9, leave the car in the hotel car park and set off to visit the little town. The first impression of Sirmione is very favourable; there are lots of tourists and things to see, and we plunge straight into visiting the historic centre. Sirmione is a town built on the tip of a narrow peninsula reaching out towards the middle of Lake Garda, and almost everywhere, sometimes suddenly, you get stunning glimpses of the lake; we were also favoured by wonderful weather.

We take the little train that will take us to the Catullus Caves, the remains of an ancient Roman villa on the extreme promontory; it is truly very beautiful to stroll in this place, the view is stunning and we take lots of photos. We come out as it is lunchtime and, waiting for the little train that will take us back to the centre, we have a cold dish in a nearby bar. We complete the visit of Sirmione with a stop at the Scaliger Castle and a very good fruit salad bought at a kiosk near the gates of the historic centre. Reluctantly we head back to our hotel to collect the car that will take us to the second stop of our outing: Parco Sigurta. The park is simply wonderful; it is truly very romantic to stroll along the colourful little paths of this enormous "garden".

To visit it better we rent an electric car so we can enjoy every corner of this little paradise without tiring ourselves out. In the evening, tired, we return to the hotel; for dinner we ask for a recommendation, though there is only an embarrassment of choice, you just cross the road and there are a couple of little restaurants without even having to take the car; naturally we choose the one with the lake-view terrace and we are served a delicious candlelit dinner. Everything is perfect...... The following day, after an abundant breakfast, we decide to spend the whole day at the Garda thermal spa; it feels divine, it is a beautiful day and I assure you it is extremely relaxing.

We spend our day practically always immersed in these little pools where the water is constantly at 37 degrees, amid little waterfalls and jacuzzis scattered here and there, eating a quick sandwich at the park bar to enjoy these delights as much as possible. In the evening, after putting off our departure as long as possible, we get in the car and, satisfied, return to Genoa.
