As soon as I manage to recover the photos of Città della Pieve I will put them online.....
Città della Pieve is a small town surrounded by walls and it is in rustic style...all full of little brick alleys...the style I like....as soon as we arrive we find scattered all along the little streets lots of stalls with typical products, most of which are based on truffle...how delicious!
So we have a nice feast and buy all sorts of things with the intention of then having a nice dinner at the home of our friends who were with us, who are married....
We then continue our visit and go into all possible and imaginable alleys finding views for beautiful photos....from Città della Pieve, which can be said to be on a hill, you have a beautiful panorama of all the surrounding Umbrian countryside!
We also recognize lots of little squares where the scenes of "Carabinieri" are set and the famous BAR PIPPO which really has that sign! They put it there for script requirements and then kept it! We also found the carabinieri station....which is only so in fiction as it is not in reality!
The little restaurants are of course all full and so we get a nice sandwich at the stalls that populate the town and eat it sitting on the ground under the awning of a shop window!!!
We leave Città della Pieve and head towards Lake Trasimeno....the walk along the lake is beautiful and we discover that many people took advantage of the splendid sunny day to have a nice picnic along the shores of the lake.....which moreover has beautiful transparent and clean water!
After having a coffee and doing the whole walk we go up to the castle that dominates the lake....there is a nice festival and there are lots of people sitting on the low walls enjoying the view of the lake....here too along all the little streets, I think medieval, lots of little shops selling typical products....many based on truffle...and I am really in my world!!!! In the late afternoon and after a nice ice cream we head home...but the traffic is heavy and so we stopped for dinner in our Florence......it was needed!
