My Tuscany, Part Three

A SUNDAY PICKING CHESTNUTS

This Sunday we want to spend it in a different way....wake up early in the morning and off we go TO GATHER CHESTNUTS!

Once we arrive in Villa Basilica we have a nice breakfast and a walk in the small town......a little square surrounded by houses and a small church all in stone in rustic Tuscan style...an enchanting style in my opinion!

We get back in the car and take the road that leads to the Pizzorne and we go into the woods where we would end up a few hours later with our bags full of Chestnuts!

It's finally lunchtime...there is a single restaurant on the Pizzorne which of course we will find full.....but with a bit of patience we manage to find a table and so we eat lots of good things and fill our bellies...!

After lunch, given the beautiful day, we spend a good part of the afternoon relaxing in the green meadows that surround the restaurant admiring the autumn colors of the trees full of leaves... This green space is very well equipped because those who don't want to eat at the restaurant can go into the adjacent grocery store and buy everything needed for a picnic and enjoy nature lying on a nice blanket...or bring meat from home and cook it on one of the many braziers scattered all over the enormous lawn....if only you knew what a wonderful smell!
