There's a place in northern Italy that's really worth visiting. It's Lake Garda. It embraces the provinces of Trento, Verona and Brescia. The many ancient villages that rise on its shores frame this mirror, a masterpiece of such generous nature. Torbole is one of them, and it's here that I spent the summer holidays of 2008. Its resemblance to Burano, an island of Venice, is strong. The little harbour, its colourful houses, its streets, the customs house. Once an ancient fishing village and a place frequented by painters and writers, among them Goethe, today, thanks to its winds, it's a destination for windsurfing enthusiasts. There are many walks you can take through the woods.
For example: the walk along the panoramic path "Busate-Tempesta", during which, besides the view, you can admire the treasures that the flora and fauna offer; the walk along the path that leads to the "Marmitte dei Giganti" (Giant's Kettles), rock erosion caused by moving glaciers. From Torbole, too, walking along the shores of the lake, you can reach Riva del Garda in a little over half an hour or, by boat, the splendid Limone, where you can wander through the maze of its little streets and admire the flowered windowsills of the houses.. If after all these excursions and walks you feel tired, you can relax on the beach at Torbole and let the warm sun pamper you.
Don't miss either: Malcesine, which in the evening is a fairytale place; Tenno with its ancient medieval castle, where time seems to have stopped; Lake Tenno, whose waters have a particular colour and whose island in the middle creates a spectacular and unforgettable view.
