A mini-break in Val Passiria

Tired of the muggy heat of the Po plain, we found refuge at Plan in Passiria (BZ) (Pfelders in Passeier), 1622 m above sea level, in the cosy hotel Alpenblick (3***). It had been 2 years since we'd been away from this valley. In the meantime they've built a new cable car which takes you up to 2100 metres at the Grunbaden mountain hut. From there various trails of different difficulty set off, there's something for every taste, you just need the will to walk. Every year on 15 August there's the village festival. A huge marquee is set up, under which 10 Tyrolean bands take turns, and people drink, eat and dance until 3 in the morning. The beer flows in rivers. The service at our hotel was excellent, we recommend it to everyone and, if possible, we'll go back. The night before our return the peaks around Plan turned white with snow.
