This time we decided to see Italy, and specifically the Salento. Excellent choice. A somewhat long trip to do by car, but there's no convenient airport. We stopped for one night at a farmhouse in Abruzzo, then the next day we reached our destination, Torre dell'Orso in the province of Lecce. A nice new resort 500 metres from the sea, but a shuttle runs back and forth from the beach to the hotel continuously. Having the car, though, we went around to see the Salento. We'd already been to the Gargano but here it's a whole different thing. Transparent sea, a beautiful high coastline with enchanting inlets and equally beautiful beaches, both equipped and not. It's worth going to visit Lecce; its historic centre deserves a visit, with its old Baroque buildings.
Once the seaside holiday was over, on the way back we stopped again in Abruzzo but this time to see the Gran Sasso d'Italia, where I'd already been years ago for military service. bye till the next holiday and HAPPY TRAVELS to whoever sets off
