If you're lucky enough to live in a splendid region like Tuscany...you're spoiled for choice....there are loads of characteristic little villages among the hills and great art cities like Siena, and one or two days are enough to visit it....that's how we did it. Piazza del Campo was full of people because there was the draw for the Palio....a coming and going of people in the city's alleys...loads of characteristic little shops open selling local products...and really characteristic wine bars. Stop for dinner...I recommend a little restaurant on a side street off Piazza del Campo called GALLO NERO...the cuisine is medieval and the waiters serve you in the typical costumes of the era.....a slightly different dinner based on simple dishes in a place that also has little rooms underground, all in brick.....the rest you'll see for yourselves!
