The story
The fortress of Gradara and its walled village are one of the best-preserved medieval complexes in Italy: it stands on a hill between Marche and Romagna in an atmosphere of enchantment with a pleasant rolling countryside as a backdrop. For romantics there is the legend of Paolo and Francesca, the tragedy of the two young lovers killed in Gradara castle and remembered by Dante in the Divine Comedy... "Love, which absolves no loved one from loving"...
